Dad

Every time I open my mailbox and see a letter or postcard from my dad, I get as excited as I did when I got my first letter from him my freshman year in college.  I’m 23 and out of college, and he still sends me letters and postcards that I always look forward to.

I hope one day I can send my children as radically awesome and crazy letters as my Dad sends me when they go away to school.  I have kept everyone of them since I began receiving them give years ago and I treasure them dearly.

Yesterday I called him from across the country to wish him a Happy Father’s Day. He told me about how he has a blank stretched canvas in his house, to remind him to start every day with a blank canvas. So simple, but an awesome reminder. Here’s to you Daddio. And your continual words of wisdom and support. I love you, love you, love you.
